Thinking of Adopting a Cat?

Then are we glad you came to us! Have a read through these little snippets of advice and wisdom and then check out our Cats Needing Homes page for the latest residents via this link.

Why Not Two?

When it comes to cats and kittens, it really is worth considering adopting more than one - they will appreciate the company and spend less time destroying your house through boredom! There's nothing more appealing than seeing two cats snuggled up together or play-fighting - and you will get twice the love in return! Cats quite often find companionship within their foster homes so look out for those cats advertised as a pair and make two Happy Tails instead of one.

Cats with Special Needs

Every charity will have one or more animals on their books with more special needs than normal. This could mean the cats have a behavioural issue; they are very timid or are having difficulty in a foster pen. It could mean a physical disability like deafness or mobility problems or even refer to cats which are semi-feral and need an outdoor home environment. Please don't rule these special mogs out without reading about them first, they're with us because they weren't given that second chance that they deserve and will often give so much back in return for simple care and pleasures.

All too often we find that the beautiful black cats and the lovely black and white cats are the ones left behind when it comes to rehoming. Tabbies and gingers have it easy compared to these dark lovelies. Please consider taking a black cat or a "tuxedo" cat - we don't want them getting a complex!

Senior Kitizens

We often have several older cats in our care, it is especially sad when senior moggies find themselves homeless and looking for a second chance. We strongly advocate rehoming a senior cat, they are still full of life and playful and lets face it cats are living into their twenties these days so 9 or 10 is not old! You won't get the naughty, destructive behaviour you might with a kitten, or the delightful unwelcome gifts you receive from a young hunter! Rather you'll find a loving companion who will give so much in return for nice food, a warm bed and a welcoming lap. Check out our Happy Tails page for some lucky seniors who have found their fantastic retirment homes. Give a teenage cat a chance and you will reap the rewards.
